Honors Institute and Honors Transfer Program

The Honors Institute at Foothill offers various benefits and opportunities to students who take honors classes. Among these are both honors research events and the Honors Transfer Program. Benefits of participating in the Honors Transfer Program at Foothill include smaller class sizes, more one-on-one time with professors, and priority consideration for admission at partner institutions. Anyone can participate, but you must complete 12 units of honors classes by the end of the Fall quarter you are applying for transfer, 23 honors unites by the end of Spring quarter before transfer, and a form of community service.

Research and Service Leadership Symposium (RSLS)

Through the Research and Service Leadership Symposium, you can conduct in-depth research projects and participate in service leadership activities. Students present their work in professional conference settings.

Honors Transfer Council of California (HTCC)

Foothill College is a partner of the Honors Transfer Council of California. If you participate in the honors scholars program at Foothill, you can receive priority consideration at selected universities.

Transfer Alliance Program (TAP)

The Transfer Alliance Program is an agreement between Foothill College and UCLA. Foothill TAP students experience a 80% acceptance rate into UCLA, though only through the College of Letters and Sciences. Additionally, students can select an alternate major into UCLA, which is guaranteed to be considered during the admissions process if not admitted for primary major. The requirements for TAP are identical to the requirements for the Honors Scholar Program.

California Promise Program

Students are guaranteed two years of free tuition at any community college based in California through the Promise Program. You must be a California resident, a first time-student, and enroll in at least 12 units per quarter to be eligible. To access Promise, fill out a FAFSA (Federal Student Aid) form and select Foothill College as your primary institution.

Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG)

The Transfer Admission Guarantee is an agreement between the student and their UC of choice stating that so long as the student maintains a minimum GPA and fulfills all transfer requirements by the Spring quarter before transfer, they will receive guaranteed admission. The participating UCs are Irvine, Davis, Merced, Santa Cruz, Riverside, and Santa Barbara. The filing period for TAG is from September 1st to September 30th.

Note that TAG does not apply to all majors and requirements may differ depending on the school and your major.
